Public transport

Vienna has an extensive and very good public transport network. A single journey costs € 2,40. You can get travel passes for all of Vienna (excluding the Airport, see above!):

  • 24h for €  8,00
  • 48h for €  4,10
  • 72h for € 17,10

Please double check if your ticket is already validated when you buy it. Usually you will have to insert your ticket once into one of the blue boxes at the entrance gates at the metro, or inside buses or tramways immediately after boarding. This machine will then mark a timestamp on your ticket. Going without it can cost you around € 100.-.

Don't be confused, most people here have an annual pass, so they don't need to do that and just walk by.
